Augment Your Breasts Naturally Using Your Own Fat

Sunday, August 31st, 2014

breast augmentation without implants At Plastic Surgery Specialists of Boca Raton, we see many women who are frustrated with the small size of their breasts. Some of them remark that they wish they could take some of the excess fat from their abdomen or thighs and use it to make their breasts bigger. Do you feel this way, too? Well, guess what? You can! Using your own fat to augment your breasts is now a reality.

In the Past

In the past, many surgeons experimented with the possibility of transferring fat from one area of the body to another. Until recently, however, success with this procedure was limited. Even though surgeons could use liposuction to take fat from one area of the body and re-inject it into another, the re-injected fat did not stay in the area requiring enhancement. Instead, the body would reabsorb the fat, leading to disappointing results.

Natural Breast Augmentation

Now, thanks to advancements in fat purification methods, fat transfer has become a viable way to enhance certain areas of the body. With fat transfer to the breasts, or natural breast augmentation, the plastic surgeon can use liposuction techniques to harvest fat cells from an area of the body that typically has an ample amount of excess fat, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs or buttocks. The fat is purified in a special machine before being re-injected into an area of the body requiring enhancement; in this case, the breasts. Once the donor fat cells have been re-injected into the breasts, the surgeon makes sure the fat is evenly distributed throughout the treatment area.

Expected Results

About 80 percent of the transferred fat should remain in the enhancement area. However, some patients undergo the procedure a second time for optimal results. Note: Natural breast augmentation provides a subtle degree of enhancement (about one bra cup size). Patients desiring a dramatic degree of breast enhancement may be more appropriate candidates for breast implant surgery.

Changing Your Skincare Routine for Fall

Friday, August 15th, 2014

Change Your Skincare routine for FallSummer will soon be coming to an end, and autumn is just around the corner. With the changing seasons, you may also want to transition to a new skincare routine. The skincare regimen that did wonders for your skin during the dog days of summer may not work as well during the colder, less humid fall months. Boca Raton plastic surgeon Dr. Rafael Cabrera shares details about how to care for your skin this autumn.

Don’t Skimp on Sunscreen

Though the sun may not feel as intense during autumn as it did during summer, it never stops radiating skin-damaging ultraviolet rays. UV rays not only cause premature signs of aging such as hyperpigmentation (dark spots), but can also cause skin cancer. For these reasons, you should never skimp on the sunscreen, even if it is cool and cloudy outside.

Try Facial Oil

Although one of your main skincare concerns during summer is avoiding oily skin, your face will most likely crave extra moisture during autumn. With lower humidity levels, you may have to replenish lost moisture. One way to do this is to try facial oil or an oil-based moisturizer in place of your lighter everyday facial moisturizer. Oil-based facial products help your skin retain moisture, but feel light on the skin. You may be surprised to discover that most facial oils are absorbed into the skin quickly and do not feel the least bit greasy.

Facial Rejuvenation Treatment Options

If you notice premature signs of aging or visible sun damage throughout your face, you might want to consider facial rejuvenation surgery or a nonsurgical cosmetic treatment. Autumn symbolizes renewal, so why not renew your appearance?
